Nice Jim! Clearly some great stuff there.

My cellar is smaller with max 170 bottles I guess, as I don’t have more room. Like you, mostly Bordeaux, but oldest being 2008, so a young cellar.

Ha ha, I’m hoping to get some Burgundy into the cellar in 2024. You guys have an open invitation anytime, we’ll cork the good stuff! MichaelP and Nalan are talking about coming up.

Didn’t get really intense until he made it to the case section….then, woah baby! Made me want to head down there with a crowbar and start prying the lids off a couple of those cases!

I would like to make it up to Maine sometime this summer. Been a while since I’ve been up there but have fond memories of visiting Acadia several decades ago (one of the EXTENSIVE list of national parks I’ve visited…probably more than any other BWE-r). You might hear from me Jim!

I know this is a Bordeaux board, but at :43 into the video I spy with my little eye some Joh. Jos. Prüm. What bottlings are they?

Nice looking cellar, Jim. I presume it’s the basement cellar. Nice.

I miss the at home basement cellar. That’s one great use of having a basement…

Indeed, Stefan, filling in some gaps is what prompted me to do the video.
Now I just need to get some 2022 Burgundy in there. And more champagne.

Passive cellar, it stays cool year round up here in the great state of Maine.
I've added more Dom Perignon since the video, I need more whit Burgundy for summer lobster.
I want to get more red Burgundy, when are the 2022s hitting the shelves?

Jim
When you picked up the 95 Petrus I had this awful feeling that you were going to drop it. I know some would laugh at such misfortune but not me.

Regarding white Burgundy you really should try bringing some in from Remoissenet in Beaune. The wines are relatively good value and have a combination of minerality and fruit complexity. Had a simple 2014 St Romain at a CD price of about E12 and it blow away anything I’ve had recently at that price. It cost me about USD14 a bottle to get them here - I buy about 30 cases at a time and sell of some to get a lower unit rate for freight etc.

If you are interested I’ll PM the contact details. I have no commercial interest by the way - been buying them for some decades previously a private club in Australia.

Given the high cost of white Burgundy I’m also buying more Australian Chardonnay as well. The makers planted out cooler regions some years ago that are now paying off.

Cheers
Mark

Ha yes that Petrus was one of the first bottles I purchased when I started collecting, I got it for $275 in New Hampshire, I'll never forget the woman cracking open the (lone) case (in the New Hampshire system) in front of me and asking, "How many do you want?" Like an idiot, I said, "I'll just have one."
