Tonight we are also drinking a youngster--2007 Latour a Pomerol. It is a luscious, full bodied wine with currants and wild strawberries and a long finish, but it lacks distinctive Pomerol attributes. It should be blanquitoed, I think.

How is the Lafon Rochet?

I am recovering from the Covid I contracted in that state in which frozen embryos have the same rights as you and I do. Fortunately, it has not affected my sense of smell or taste and is my case is less bad than a typical head cold. Moreover, my family's favorite saying, "drown a fever; drown a cold" seems to work for Coviditis.

Take it slow, Stefan, I hope you're feeling better, that's a nasty virus. I've heard of quite a few people getting it lately.
The 2019 Lafon Rochet is a serious food wine, it matched with my fatty ribeye last night.
It is dark and very young, but showing blueberries, cedar, and a touch of spice.
Recognizably St. Estephe, modern but everything in its proper place. I'll buy more.
Rating: 94 points.

Feel better stefan. I’m guessing you’re not on Paxlovid, as that seriously messes with taste.

I am on Paxlovid, David. I haven't noticed any change in my smell or taste. I've eaten and drunk what I usually do, although in smaller amounts. Perhaps that indicates that I have no taste, confirming what Lucie tells me frequently. Lucie tested positive this morning and will probably start taking Paxlovid after a virtual visit with a physician. We'll see if it affects her senses. So far her symptoms are almost the same as mine were the day I tested positive.

Feel better soon Stefan and Lucie.

I guess it depends which variant you got vs losing (or not) smell and taste.

A friend released his first full cd last night, with a premiere show. 250 people crowded together, and I feel a bit attacked this morning…

Interesting stefan. I think you’re a lucky outlier to be free of the Paxlovid taste distortion.

Nice report on another 2019, the Lafon-Rochet. I have a tough time assessing when the 2019 will be at their peak, being kinda big ripe tannic slightly high alcohol wines…

I really liked the 2016. I had the 2020 as well, that was very young, but with a more flowery style.

Which Lafon Rochet did you like better, Nikola, 2019 or 2020?

Jim, I did not had the 2019 Lafon-Rochet.

I was talking about 2019 red Bordeaux in général.
