Stash has been stored safely in cellar, surrounded by security of poison-tipped darts and jungle trip wires.
Inventory of Lafite now totals 34 bottles. I will drink well when I am 116 years old....

The New Hampshire folks ended up being very nice, I guess I've developed a bit of a reputation there.
They extended the 20% sale for me.

Indeed, Mr. Flaneur, I was just discussing with my brother tonight the plans for my cellar after I travel on to meet the Great Stefan in the Great Tasting Room in the Sky.
I still say the best plan is DavidG's: Leave a moderate sized cellar for our heirs.
I thank you for your enablement, I am very happy with my purchase, you are right, I would have been disappointed not to have closed the deal in this opportunity.
These wines are safe and sound under lock and key and fully insured, I look forward to drinking them with you and BWEers for many years to come....

The most exciting purchase of my career! Lafite has always held a mystique for me, to me it is the ultimate. Probably the biggest disappointment in our pandemic trip cancellation .

For me, too. No other first growth has it. It reminds me of Salieri versus Mozart: Salieri crafts a perfect composition, then a Mozart piece blows it away.

Thank you, JF....

My current Lafite inventory:

3 x 1996 Chateau Lafite Rothschild
1 x 2002 Chateau Lafite Rothschild
2 x 2004 Chateau Lafite Rothschild
22 x 2016 Chateau Lafite Rothschild
6 x 2019 Chateau Lafite Rothschild

Total Lafites in cellar: 34

If you had told me 24 years ago when we started this site that I would have 34 bottles of Chateau Lafite Rothschild in my cellar I would have called you crazy, I would never spend $100-$180 per bottle for that many wines....

It is just a tad sad that Lafite has replaced (i guess temporarily) in your mind the greatest red Bordeaux wine of all times, the 1989 Lynch Bages…

I don’t mind saying that it has crossed my mind, Nicola, to start buying older vintages like normal people, but I think I have enough wine in the cellar for now….!

Wine enough for after you turn 90, but what about when you are in your seventies and eighties?

Great wine for celebrating your 80th birthday! One lot I lost in my last auction outing contained a bottle of '89 Lynch Bages. I hope it found a good home.
