Ribeye and a bullseye
Ribeye and a bullseye
A 3 hour double decant revealed wonderfully pure aromas of blackberry and mossy, mushroom tones that led to a silky, saturated, blackberry and mineral driven flavors that maintained both tension and freshness through the long-lasting finish. 96+(+)

Very nice JC.

Montrose seems to (almost?) never deceive. Every vintages are classic.

In Montréal, Jim brought a 2010 that was an exception : crazily concentrated, demonic tannins, strong as Superman… needs lots of kryptonite and time…

We suspected 2014 would be a great match for an estate that has been firing on all cylinders for over 30 years, I am not surprised by this note. I had the 2014 La Dame a few months back and it was a beauty. I'm heading back to Manhattan early this week, not quite sure what day I'll be coming back north, but I'll connect with you! JC picked up 10 of these for me that we got at a very nice price at T&V, can't wait to try one, especially after this report!

I am in a little village near Troyes in France called Messon en route to Chambery where I am staying with Antoine.

None of the local restaurants are open so I had to venture to Carrefour in Troyes to buy a baguette and some nice cheese and jambon Serrano….and this…absolutely top drawer and 13.5%.

This note describes the wine accurately

The 2020 La Dame de Montrose is fabulous. Rich, dense and expansive, the 2020 offers notable vibrancy and a good bit of energy too. Bright acids cut through a core of red/purplish fruit in what is an intense, wonderfully saline Dame. The 2020 finishes with remarkable elegance and sophistication. [Antonio Galloni, 23/02/2023]

I've really loaded up on Montrose over recent years, it's become one of my most significant left bank holdings, and at reasonable prices too:

8*2000
6*2005
12*2009
2*2010
8*2014
6*2016
12*2020

Problem is I'm not entirely sure *any* of these are fully mature.
