Incredibly quiet forum nowadays!

Post by greatbxfreak »

Are all BWEs gone for holidays, or are they extremely busy?

It's not normal to only have 3-5 people post every time.

It's weird!

I agree Izak that post on BWE are at a low point.

I guess it is a shortness of breath after 24 years the site has been running without ever taking a break!

But it has always been a very friendly and free site, but i guess the newest members are shy to post, and the oldest members have less time or other preoccupation than to post.

You know, BWE could have never been what it is, it could have been nothing. So I’m grateful it is still there, and accept what it’s now is.

I agree, Nic, I'll likely pull the plug soon but we can still keep in touch with the two dozen or so friends who get together from time to time for dinners in DC, etc. Most BWE friends pretty much communicate offline anyway these days. I'll give at least a week's notice when I do it. It's been a great 25 year run but all things must pass!

I wouldn’t pull the plug unless it’s a pain to keep open. I don’t use email as much and I find it much easier to send a message here and have everyone see it.

It costs me about $300 per year to maintain BWE,over 24 years it adds up. I just think it’s time to close up shop, I’ll notify when I terminate my hostgator account. We can just do an email thread.

I understand your point, Jim, and I can’t believe that I am (unintentionally) quoting the orange-headed clown, but the first word that came to me was “Sad”

I get it but still…less total over 24 years than the value of wines we open at one dinner…I for one would be happy to make a contribution.

Cut out the silliness, Jim. You know that many, including I, are happy to pay for it to continue.

When the 2 subject that monitor most activity are « What have you bought » and « President Trash », maybe time to sell BWE to Mr. Suckling?

Seriously, i will continue to post as long as it need, in all respect to JimHow, whuzzup_, JScott, setab, CabFan, stefan, michaelP, JCnorthway, and all others that started that place and made it something special.

Jim,

Please don't pull the plug.

There are other options, for sure.
