A very Quick TN-97LB and 96LR

Post by Jay Winton »

The Lynch Bages was surprisingly good with the 2lb porterhouse last night (no, I did not eat it by myself). I dissed this wine here a few years ago but it was quite balanced last night with good fruit and acceptable length, No 89 but not bad.

The 96 Lafon Rochet we had recently was the best bottle yet and showed a wine moving into prime time. No rush to drink at all but pop 'em if you got 'em with no guilt.

I opened a few cases of 95's and 96's last week to try a few. We had the 96LR w/ lamb chops and my assessment is the same as yours Jay. Good wine, ready to go, will last quite a while. Thx for the note.

Hard to believe our little BWE baby is already 13 years old, it is one of those wines that nobody else knows about except us.

I am looking forward to drinking the 96s. I looking back at the prices I paid in 2002 for these "older" bordeaux, I am still amazed at the p/q ratio. I don't think I will ever see more out-of-wack prices than 2002 or 2003.

Looking toward to the Lafon in a few more years. It has been tasty in its youth.

Soon I'm hoping Tom! Sharon is retired now too and we have several trips we're planning. It would be great to visit w/ you and Gail again!
