We liked the one we BWE stayed last convention in Chicago. We had a room with the river view. Awesome!
We should be able to make it this time too. Can't wait.

Looking forward to it. Last time I think it was the Renaissance (Marriott) on Wacker overlooking the Chicago river now across from Trumps new place. Great spot. Have booked the time off so unless something untoward happens will see everyone in Chicago.

Sounds great Danny, looking forward to seeing you again.

Attendance will be limited to 40, so it's going to be first come first served.

Start planning ahead!

Rick,

Still remember that gorgeous cashmere topcoat that someone walked out of the coat check at Coco Pazzo a few years back leaving an old beater behind. The restaurant did come through in the end and pay for the replacement but I couldn't find the same one. Still a nice new coat but not as sexy!

Don't think I'll be able to make it to Chicago before the BWE event this time. Have a very busy schedule ahead starting with a two week South Pacific cruise from Tahiti to Fiji for Danielle's 50th leaving next weekend.Looking forward to this break because the hospital has been mad and with this H1N1 scare it's not a bad time to go and hide on a little island somewhere hoping that the wave passes. Just pray there is not outbreak on the ship.

Say Hello to Kathy and hope all is well.

Count me in too.

Good travels, Danny, and good luck avoiding the flu. A cruise ship is not the first place I would go to avoid exposure to communicable diseases. Is the H1N1 vaccine available up there yet? I got mine Tuesday - the hospital staff was on the priority list - but they ran out before everyone was vaccinated. There will be plenty of vaccine in another few weeks, here's hoping that's soon enough.

David,

Lots of vaccine started rolling out Monday. I've had mixed emotions. First and last time I had the flu shot I felt like crap for almost two weeks. I had more flu like illnesses that season than I could ever remember. With us going away next week the last thing I want is to be sicker from the prevention than the disease. I hear what you say about being stuck on a plane for 10 1/2hrs then a cruise ship. It's like the perfect storm and I don't usually gamble but I'm just taking my chances and avoiding the vaccine until I get home in three weeks.I hope lots of good wine food and sun will be the prevention!

Danny, give your lovely wife birthday wishes from Sharon and me! While you're enjoying the S.Pacific, we're heading to hopefully sunnier climes also, visiting family in S. Cal. and friends in Phoenix and Albuquerque. May sneak up the coast for a few days in rainy Sonoma as well. Bon Voyage! P

Depending on how MC pregnancy goes, we'll see if we can be there. I would really like to attend as 2009 was a poor BWE offlines year for me. The thing is that if MC (and Simone) can't come, will I go by myself?

On the other end, I would like to bring MC to Chicago, as I found a really nice city when I was there for the first time, in 2001.

Hard to believe it has been nine years since we snuck the fourteen-year-old Nicolas into Chicago '01 for a taste of Petrus and lynch Bages and Beaucastel....

It is legal now in Maine for medical conditions.
I think Jim should check if a hangover qualifies as a condition and we can have another event in Maine. :D

State of Maine Song
Written and composed by Robert Vinton Snow

Grand State of Maine, proudly we sing
To tell your glories to the land
To shout your praises till the echoes ring
Should fate unkind send us to roam
The scent of the fragrant pines,
The tang of the salty sea will call us home.

Oh, Pine Tree State
Your woods, fields and hills
Your lakes streams and rockbound coast
Will ever fill our hearts with thrills
And tho' we seek far and wide
Our search will be in vain
To find a fairer spot on earth
Than Maine! Maine! Maine!

Maine's a pretty hip place politically, although gay marriage failed by a narrow margin, this time around.
It's just a matter of time, though, the moral majority is tired, old and dying, the youth don't think it's a big deal.
Live and let live, I say.
