Mmm, textbook Sociando and just a delight with a grilled ribeye. Lean, mean, and slightly vegetal. It doesn't sound very good, does it? But this is textbook, loaded with minerality, hints of cranberry, stem and graphite. This is an austere wine, but the purity and tipicity are off the charts. This is textbook Bordeaux, glorious and strong, perfect with a steak. Twenty years has served this bottle very well. (89 pts.)

Exactly as I remember it from last March! Thanks for the update.

My feeling at that time was that the 3 hour decanting I gave it might not have been quite enough--it shows a bit more charm the longer you stay with it, but the graphite/iron and spiny backbone never really deviate from that typicity to cite. I love the wine--that was my last (sadly, 2 corked out of the final three).
