TN: 1988 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Post by DavidG »

Here's a test post of an old note to see if the extended characters are coming through from CT:
  • 1988 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (2/15/2003)
dark red, slight bricking, rich ripe nose of pure fruit, no funk,
plenty of great sweet fruit on the palate, medium to full bodied,
well balanced, tannins resolved, long finish, no signs of falling
    apart

Yup, working now. Thanks, Eric! This is the best thing since, well, CellarTracker...

Reminds me it's time to revisit this one. It was holding up much better than most had predicted. I've still got a few bottles and a 3L of this in the cellar.

Excellent! And nice to see an 88 Beau performing well. Not my favorite Beau when I have had it, but any Beau with some age is always pretty nice.

Mike,

I look forward to seeing the notes from your Beaucastel vertical. About 3 years ago, I attended a Beaucastel vertical tasting that Rick (on this board) and a friend of his organized - great fun. I think it went as far back as the late 70's or 1981 - cannot remember for sure. Anyway, it was a great tasting. If I recall, I actually posted some notes on the old BWE. Maybe I will go see if I can find them somehow so we can compare notes with yours.

Actually this note was from almost 6 years ago. I just picked the first one I saw that had extended characters in order to test the CT posting fix. I am due to open another, maybe on our anniversary next month (Peg and I were married in '88).
