Jon and i are arranging to visit a club soon where we already have a tentative OK on the date we need to check out some other details
Jon is swapping messages to zero in on a date /time for the tour etc.

we will then have a better fix on #s but 40 continues to sound about right

Tom,

I'm sorry that you and Gail will not be able to attend the BWE 2010 celebration. Perhaps your schedule will get changed again.

I agree, Ricky, many of us are coming from far away places, some even from the other side of the world. It is important to have a realistic list of attendees. What is the latest word on the Saturday night venue? Have we given thought to a theme and venue for Friday night? Much thanks to you, Jon and HM$ for all of your hard work on this.

I hope you guys can work out your scheduling conflict, Gail, it won't be the same without you and Tom there.

As an added enticement, I just thought I'd post a few pictures of my 1989 Lynch Bages 3L-- the "BWE Wine of the Decade"-- that I hope to sip with you, Tom, and BWEers from far and wide in Chicago!

I have been communicating with Rick and Jon, they have been doing a great job working on the venues for the weekend. They've got a very exciting venue in the works for Saturday night, I'll let you guys, Rick and Jon, announce the details of your efforts when you feel the time is right. Do i understand that Kathy took some pictures?

We were also thinking it would be good to try to get some of the original Chicago '01 attendees there. Has anyone heard from Ben lately? How about CabFan, JScott, Dennis, Rob and Deb, Roberto?

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to bring any wines with me, as I'll be stopping through Chicago on the end of a very long trip. Will we be making a run to any of the local wine shops?

Tim,

I agree with Rick and Stefan. I think you have more than paid your dues with what you have brought to previous dinners. So do not worry if you cannot carry stuff with you. If you feel you must check out places once you arrive to buy something, I guess that is OK. But honestly, you'd be far ahead to just cover someone's cost out of their cellar if you can swing something. There are no retail bargains on aged Bordeaux in Chitown.

Ditto what the others said, Timmy, for those of you who don't know, Timmy was the one who donated ten vintages of Pontet Canet From 1994 to 2003 for our big dinner with Alfred Tesseron a few years ago in NYC even though he, Timmy, could not attend the event himself. I'm just glad to see you coming, it has been too long, since DC '07 if I am not mistaken...

Last one I attended was Miami I believe. Which was awesome!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there are customs restrictions into Puerto Rico? That will be the last stop before Chicago.

I am sorry to report that I will not be able to make the convention either. I will be out of the country now for two months leading right up to Chicago 2010, and so I just can't squeeze it in.

I will come to bail any of you out as necessary, however, if any Chicago style riots occur with the BD leading the charge on the barricades.

Patrick - Sorry that you will not be able to make this event. You will be missed. If by any chance you find your schedule changing at the last minute, I'm confident that our room can fit in one more person!

Howard - I look forward to seeing you and Lisa again. And we will look forward to meeting your guests.

Rick - are you maintaining a count (informal for now)?

Excellent! This is going to be a legendary convention.

I heard from Ben he can't make it because he will be out of town that weekend but will be back on Tuesday if anyone is still around for dinner that night....
