Wine Connection sale

Post by JonB »

http://www.wineconn.com has a 15% off sale today only (enter promo code " Snow2010 " during the checkout process, and the discount is factored in ) . I've cut way back on purchasing, but Wine Conn seems to have bought deals from distributor/importer liquidations (e.g. Diageo) and has a few interesting wines, and the 15% further off tipped me over the edge to buy a few (actually it was the inspiring speach last night on creating jobs for America, so I was just being patriotic).

'04 d'Angerville Volnay Taillepieds (sp) around $34 (BH92)
'05 Trotanoy $135
'03 Leoville Barton $84

and a terific Right Bank:
2001 La Conseillante

Ramon - I'm glad you found something. I didn't think to look through the Italian wines --- another dangerous path.....

Another email says they are extended the sale through the end of today.

Jon,

Yes, extended for 1 more day .... and I succumbed. Again.
Guess what? A late breaking email showing more wines (mostly Bddx) added.
When will the madness stop!

I had been buying some of the ouststanding Grand Puy Lacoste 2006 at $38 but looks like they sold out

Good buys would include Conseillante 01 $79 - 15%, Conseillante 00 $166 - 15% and Smith Haut Lafitte 04 and 06 $41.50 -15% and Branaire 04 $29.99 - 15%

Good pricing there, for sure. Thanks for the heads-up.

01 La Conseillante, 04 Haut Bailly, 04 Branaire all caught my eye, too, along with the 04 Malescot. Birth year for my girls, so always on the look-out for those 04's... I am also tempted by the Emidio Pepe wines, despite their reputation for massive bottle variation. And Trimbach CFE VT 2000, if it ever rounds out to anything like the 1990, will prove to have been a great deal, too. Those Conternos look great, but I think I will concentrate on picking up some 98's that are supposedly availalbe at a local shop a bit south of me...

The '05 d'Issan is not a bad buy at $54. I paid $58 at my local Costco more than a year ago.

Also with the older Bordeauxs (e.g. '96 Ducru Beaucaillou) that were purchased from Diageo, the provenance is said to be excellent.
