Champagne is made from Burgundy grapes, right?

We'll start at 6 PM at Bin 36 on Friday.

I like the idea of some champage to start, so anyone else who wishes can bring some.
And dessert wine(s) are welcome, too.

I have a rough draft of the menu and it looks good and Burgundy-wine friendly.

Great, Danny. It's not a real party without champagne and Salon is as good as it gets.
Champagne, white Burg, red Burg - it doesn't get any better than that - except Bordeaux, of course ;=)

Ed I have one btl of the 2002 Le Grande Rue so I'm really interested in how the 1988 shows.

Lee and I may be a little late to the dinner. Unfortunately, we have client meetings that may last until 5pm or so near ORD. We'll get there as soon as we can!

Just got back to the room after a great night of Burgundy. Great company and great wines. Standouts for me were the 2005 Drouhin Clos Vougeot and the 1996 Rousseau Ruchottes, but it was an embarrassment of riches as usual. Looking forward to the main event...

Glad you liked them, Ed. My personal favorite was the 1999 Mongeard-Mugneret Grands Echezeaux. It is looking forward to a long and full life. There were so many good wines, though. The 1989 Jean Boillot Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouches reminded me why before premox we aged white Burgundy. It had flowers, sage, and jasmine in the nose and great balance in the mouth.

The company was wonderful, as usual. Lee & Lori blended right in with us long time BWEers, and Tessa was a perfect doll.

Danny, Danielle, Lucie and I had a great time at Blue Chicago after the younger generation went to bed.

Thanks for putting this together, Stuart. The menu was great and the chef's execution just right.

Must agree on the favourite of the night the Grands Echezaux. The 05 Faively Nuits St Georges was surprisingly approachable. We certainly had a range of tastes with some enjoying the young fruit, older tertiary notes and even horsey brett(yuck). You could certainly see the joy and excitement on peoples faces throughout the evening. Fabulous wine food and friendship. Life is good!

Thanks Stuart and Kathy for the thought and time put in to organizing another wonderful evening.

Thanks to Jan & Bill for closing out the night with us at Blue Chicago.
