Help With Place to Stay in Bordeaux?

Post by dstgolf »

A friend who is an oenophile extraordinaire with a great cellar is looking for a nice place to stay with his wife in the Bordeaux region around July 25th. I recommended the Hotel Plaisance in St Emelion. He has stayed there before and is looking for somewhere else. Cordellion Bages was brought up and I thought that it was a little isolated away from anty action. Anyone have any gems to recommend?

Unless your friend is a Right Bank kind-of-guy, Saint Emilion is a heck of a driving distance to, and not to account for the hellish traffic conditions in and approaching, Bordeaux. Then from the city of Bordeaux itself, is a hellish drive, mostly due to traffic condition. to the northern Medoc of Margaux, S-Julien, Pauillac and S-Estephe communes. Just as a caveat, this is coming from somebody who had to drive around and not have the benefit of a hired driver.

Cordelian Bages is in the northern Medoc and is near the Left Bank action, assuming that that's what you meant.

Hi,

There is much to be said for staying in or near Bordeaux:
- easier to reach various vineyard regions
- stuff to do once the sun sets

I agree with Jon that Les Sources de Caudalie is neverthless a good compromise: in the country, but quite close to the city.

In the city center, in the top-end category, I'd suggest a new hotel:

All the best,
