- 2004 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (2/4/2009)
This wine has been a pleasant surprise. I don't see any bitterness or unripeness here. It has some tannic structure, to be sure, and is styled differently than the '05, but in the end it displays that nice clean, pure, well-made Jadot effort that this property seems to produce year after year. A lovely nose, a hint of spice, and pleasant cherry flavors on the palate. Rating: 89 points. (89 pts.)

I have to ask. When did Ben convert you? Jim Howienac promoting Burgundy? The End of the World approaching?

I have been a fan of Jadot Beaune Clos des Ursules for many years. It used to be pretty cheap - less than $40. A recent bottle of the 1999 Jadot Clos des Ursules was just wonderful (probably about 92 points in my book). I bought some of the 2005 but haven't tried any yet.

Lay off the 2005. It is totally shut down.

Definitely agree, the '05 Jadot Beaune Premier Cru is showing better than the '05 Clos des Ursules right now.

I've got a '96 sitting upright in the cellar waiting for the right moment. Was one of my favorite QPR wines.
