Still-high prices (Lynch $75, Mouton $630, etc., etc...) in a collapsed economy for a so-so vintage.
These people are like the Wall Street execs with their crazy bonuses: They just don't get it yet, do they.
There has got to be a crash coming, who is gonna buy all this stuff?

I always find (as I'm sure everyone here does) the arrival of a new Bordeaux vintage to be very exciting. Unfortunately due to the price thing (yuck!) and the new style, there may never be new vintages as exciting to check out as 2000, 2001, 2002 or 2004 were for me. However, prices aside, didn't Parker say something akin to, "2004 is better than 2001, and 2006 is a better version of 2004." Now, if that's something like what he said, and it's somewhat true, shouldn't 2006 be a pretty good vintage? I know, the prices suck. People will have to taste a lot and pounce when they see the bargains, as there surely should be some.

BTW, thanks for the article, Jacques. It was interesting that she prefered the '06 Lynch to the '05. Also, we should invite her to join BWE - we could use a beautiful professional wine girl ahem I mean woman among our ranks.

Thanks for posting. I've come across her stuff elsewhere and she seems very reliable. Glad I bought Chevalier and Lagrange. One UK insider warned me against the Branaire after the London UGC tastings.

As to overall quality of 06 versus 05: when I put the 2 (bottled) Cantemerles blind side by side I got them the wrong way round!

I read almost everything she and John Mariani write on Bloomberg News. I find them reliable, funny and honest in their assessments.

She's written a book on Parker called The Emperor of Wine - I've never read it but it seemed to garner a lot of interest amongst his followers on eRP.
