Just noticed the 2000 Chasse-Spleen for $35, is that a good price for this wine? Is this a good year for this Moulis?
Thanks,
Patrick
2000 Chasse-Spleen at $35???
Re: 2000 Chasse-Spleen at $35???
Seems like a VERY good price to me.
If I saw it for the euro equivalent, I would surely buy some.

How about the 2005 Chasse Spleen for $33 (at PJs)?

That is a very good price, Patrick.

Thanks, guys. Anyone had this wine recently, or are the recommendations based on tastings back in the day?

I have a couple bottles but uncharacteristically have not tried one, based mainly on the rep it has for being kind of hard in its youth. Poujeaux is my main entry in the great 2000 Moulis derby.

It was fantastic on release. Chasse-Spleen has been a really consistent wine recently. I guess you are wondering whether to buy in quantity as a onesy-twosy purchase is a no-brainer. Provenance is obviously the question. I haven't tried '03 or '05 yet but everything in between was great, with distinct vintage characteristics for each wine. Great wine - a cut above ;0)

I've never been bowled over by the 2000 (have had half a case over the years) - but perhaps I drank them too soon. But on my evidence the 05 and the 04 are better.
