1996 Delas Freres Cote Rotie

Post by alchemeus »

Being my Birffin Day week and a year since me mother died and all the crap of last year I took the week off. Been trying to straighten the house up which is hard considering its' size and trying to fit most of four other houses of stuff you want to keep inside it. Cat hair hides.

Anyway, Kathryn made my favorite stuffed pepper thingie, some Asturian (northern Spain, where her grandfather is from) dish for my birthday. Leftovers tonight. Some creamy sauce infused with saffron and the sweet peppers stuffed with shrimp and carrots and I don't know what all. Freaking delicious. Anyway, it's a heavy tasty dish. And since I've turned 54 I opened a 1996 Delas Freres Cote Rotie. Mixed forest and wildflowers complete with mushrooms and herbs, blueberries mostly for the fruit. Fresh tasting, a complete wine from sip to swallow.

Down to my last 200 or so Really Good Wines.

1996 Allegrini Amarone Most Excellent also.

But enjoy less that $10 wines also. And the very local Sugar Loaf Mountain Circe blend is Most Excellent. Less than $20. There you have it.

Alch,

Great to see you back on the forum!

You write:
"Down to my last 200 or so Really Good Wines"
A very sobering comment...
What I wish you is a very long life, and that you will find the need to buy many more!!!

Best regards,
Alex R.

Happy Bday Alch - good to see you back. Haven't had the Delas Freres but it sounds like a great match. I have had the Allegrini Amarone and agree - Most Excellent.

Alch,

Nice to see your post. And happy birthday. I appreciated your comments about the 96 Allegrini; I have a couple of bottles that I have been hiding so I would not drink them before their time. Their time may have arrived.
