Your most ''never dissapointing'' Chateau

Post by Nicklasss »

Opposite to the thread Blanquito started, what is a Chateau that is almost never a deception for you. Let say that if you can point out a Cru Classé and something that is not.

For me, Léoville Las Case in the Crus Classés, and Tour St-Bonnet in the AOC Médoc.

I think my earlier comment, that's really the issue for me viz. Bordeaux pricing.

For years, who could compete with Bordeaux for age-worthy, complex, elegant, diverse wine in the $20-$50 (or even $60) range?

Now, most of our favorite wines that we bought and drank for years are priced $60 or higher!!! Pontet Canet, Branaire-Ducru, Duhart Milon, etc.

It was almost always Gloria until the 2003 vintage. I also thought of Pape Clement but it sucked after 2002. Ducru Beaucaillou made mediocre wines in the eighties imo, but everything before or after was great. Tough question. I don't know.

Angelus ; for the lesser, hmmmm possibly Chasse-Spleen (It has always been a microcosm of the vintage-so in a good vintage it is good, bad vintage it is less good. So in that regard it never dissapoints)

I've never been disappointed by a bottle of Chasse-Spleen, either.

Cos d'Estournel. I've tasted through old and new, and it is always an experience, usually a great one.
