- 2001 Château Bahans Haut-Brion - France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan (7/13/2010)
My first go with the Haut Brion label:
On the nose Red Velvet, broccoli, dusty cherries, soap(from the cab franc), motor oil, smoke and leather.
On the palate, gravel, cherry cassis, smooth velvet-like tannins, smokey beef jerky.
Are you kidding me?....LOVE (92 pts.)

Thanks for your notes.
I'm a great fan of the 2001s.
Bahans Haut-Brion has ceased to exist.
You have drunk a bit of history!
Can't say as I like the new name very much: "Le Clarence de Haut Brion"...

I did not know that the "Bahans" name was no more. Why change the name? I, like many who post here, do not think 2nd wines are a very smart buy, but I've always like Bahans -- I've found the '98 to be very good, still going strong, and better (to my taste) than the 2000. Still holding my 'Bahans 98 3 Liter for the right occassion . . .
