I've been handed a list of 2009 Bordeaux futures offered by the opimium society. I've never herd of any of these but does anyone know their track record.
Chateau des Sours AC Bordeaux
Petit Cantenac ST EMILLION GC
Chateau Nardon BORDEAUX SUPERIOR
Domaine du Galet
Chateau Daugay
Hortvie St Julien
CH Montladrie Cotes de Castillon
Ch La Conquete Pomerol
Any clues or insights would be helpful.

Help With Some 2009 Bordeaux Names Unknown to Me
Re: Help With Some 2009 Bordeaux Names Unknown to Me
I think the Hortevie has a good track record, at least in good vintages. I have the 2000 and it's very classy and also fairly large-scaled in keeping with the vintage. Somewhere I read it might be under new management, maybe LLC or another bigger St. Julien property has a hand in it now.

Chateau des Sours AC Bordeaux:
English owned. Very good for its appellation.
Crisp, modern winemaking.
Chateau Daugay
Owned by the de Boüard family of Angélus.
Good middle-of-the-road wine
Hortvie St Julien
For many years the exclusivity of the very old (like 2 centuries old) firm of Nathaniel Johnston.
Tiny vineyard. Traditional St. Julien.
CH Montladrie Cotes de Castillon
Don't know this one but wines from this appellation are usually inexpensive enough to make a small purchase a safe bet.

Re: Help With Some 2009 Bordeaux Names Unknown to Me
I just checked the 2009 Petit Cantenac on British site privatecellars.uk and 12 bottles is 148GBP, about $240.00 CAD. The Opimian Society, at least in B.C. is selling this same wine for $468.00CAD for 12 bottles. I find this depressing. Are taxes and shipping the only explanation? The wine looks good.

The Opimium lists the wine as deposit $150. Then when you read the fine print they say taxes and shipping extra and may vary. Screw that indefinite maybe regarding pricing. It nevertheless seems that taxes and shipping form the bulk of the cost but why should that surprise you. The price that the producer charges is a joke as compared to what the consumer pays.
