TN: Some Alsace Gewurztraminers

Post by Harry C. »

  • 2005 Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Herrenweg de Turckheim - France, Alsace, Turckheim, Alsace AOC (8/14/2010)
Pale gold. Nose of citrus and spice, lychee and lemon. Taste was modestly sweet balancing the Gewurz bitterness on the end. I really liked this, an no premox at all. My kinda wine. (93 pts.)
  • 1999 Albert Mann Gewurztraminer Furstentum Vieilles Vignes - France, Alsace, Kientzheim & Sigolsheim, Alsace Grand Cru AOC (8/8/2010)
gold. Apple pie with whipped cream nose. Mellow, rich and a hint of sweetness remaining. Nice at 11 yo. (92 pts.)
  • 2007 Albert Mann Gewurztraminer Steingrubler - France, Alsace, Wettolsheim, Alsace Grand Cru AOC (8/8/2010)
pale yellow. More tar in the nose than I have seen in other bottles of this. Opened with airing to a middle weight Gewurz nose. Taste was lighter weight typical. Others liked this better than I, but I have had better showings of this. (86 pts.)
  • 1998 Schoffit Gewurztraminer Harth Cuvée Caroline - France, Alsace, Haut-Rhin, Alsace AOC (8/8/2010)
deep gold. Underarm nose. Older taste slight licorice. Feh. (84 pts.)
