TN: 1999 Lynch Bages (brief)

Post by JCNorthway »

I popped and poured this wine a couple of nights ago. It seemed ready to go immediately. And over the course of a couple of hours, surprisingly, I did not notice any appreciable change in the aroma or flavors. This wine had adequate ripe fruit on the cherry side of things, and lots of warm spice flavors. But it did not have a lot of structure, and actually bordered on being a little too soft for me. This was my second bottle from a six-pack; the first one three years ago was a better structured and balanced bottle. Not quite sure what to make of this wine, but I'd have to say, based on this expererience, that I don't see a lot of upside remaining. Maybe it was just an off bottle. I'd be interested in any other recent experiences with this wine.
