Appropriate gift for winemaker

Post by awinestory »

I am visiting several properties in Burgundy and beyond, some for extensive specially arranged (complimentary) tastings and tours, some for dinners, some for accomodations. In any event, I want to bring a nice gift yet it can't be liquid or large.

Suggestions are very appreciated!

Marissa - fridge magnets always go down well in France - particularly those with an American/'Uncle Sam' theme

If you are from the US, I would suggest that a California wine, preferably not a Pinot Noir, but possibly a Chardonnay, would be much appreciated!

When I visited from Bordeaux, I brought some Sauternes.
Unless they were faking it, the winemakers were delighted.
And the wine was totally "non-threatening".

Best regards,

I usually take tea with me, although chocolates also go down well as they can be locally made ones, or locally packaged. Tea is usually better when the winemakers are older... Chocolate, when younger.

If wine, I would pick something made from a grape not found in the region.
If from the UK, English sparklers of quality usually bring a smile.

Maybe a US sparklers might be of interest?
