Going in to have some surgey to repair some hernia's along a previous abdominal incision.
Will be out of it for a week or so.
But I love y'all and will be back to annoy you.
A little nervous as last time they unzipped me it hurt like HELL.
I only hope on the pain juice I can have some visions fo Kubla Khan and I can finish that Coleridge poem.
Peace..................

GO HOKIES!

Be well, my friend. Ask if they can install a GPS chip to help with your long-distance rides while they're at it. Maybe one preloaded with wine store locations. Seriously, I hope you heal up quickly and with minimal pain this time around.

Spent 10 hours at the hospital yesterday - His surgery was done at 12:30 but they never let me back in recovery - pain issues - they put him in a room at around 5:30 - and he was in a lot of pain - even with the morphine pump. Went over before work this morning and he didn't sleep and was still in pain and running a fever. Nurse said they are giving him tylenol and he just happens to have a very high tolerance to the morphine - so it is making him goofy but not taking care of the pain. (He asked me to get the piece of wood that was floating away and put it back in the boat) - so I know the morphine is affecting his mind anyway..... I'm sure the worst is over and hopefully we will have him back home by Thursday!

Best to Rob, Susan, and to you. It's tough to see a loved one suffering. Here's hoping the pain's much better tomorrow, and that the morphine wiped out any memory of it.

THANKS ALL!
I know the surgeon fairly well and was able to negotiate an early discharge.
Last week was without a doubt the most uncomfortable week of my life.
Some of the time is enveloped in a narcotic haze. But much of it is still deeply eched into my memory.
But I am now home safe and sound with my family, pets and online community of BWE friends.
The one unexpected benefit is I will NEVER touch a cigarette again in my life!
They should be totally outlawed and wiped off the face of this Earth.
I encountered way too many older folks suffering from breathing problems.
There is nothing more chilling than wandering the early morning hospital halls and hearing weak timid voices begging,"Help me. I can't breathe. Pleeeeeeeeeeease help me."
And too many nurses have told me that most patients in the hospital and there because of smoking. And once you are on a ventilator you can never get off the ventilator.
Fuck the tobacco industry.

Welcome back, Rob!

I know what you mean about breathing problems in old smokers. It is not a pretty way to go.

Welcome back, Rob, glad to hear that you're home and feeling better. Glad to year you are giving up the cigarettes, too, . COPD is becoming a leading killer in the US. It should also kick up your performance on the bike a notch or two.
