SF '11 any theme?

Post by William P »

So do we have a theme? Should we do verticles of specific Chateaus? I could bring an 89 and 96 Montrose. If we get enough duplication everybody would get a taste and it would be interesting to see the vintage variation.

Much thanks to Werner and Ed for putting this together.

Jim are you on you January wine fast? I am.

Regards

Considerably longer than my one-week fast, also associated with reductions in food consumption. Now I'm on phase 2, moderated consumption - of wine and food. We'll see how long that phase is!

Yes I actually fasted a total of four months last year, the first three months of the year until Chicago '10, plus an additional month afterwards. I agree it is good to cleanse the system from time to time.

I am, in some sense, also on a three month wine fast. I am in Cambridge (UK) for three months, and mostly drinking table wines at College and trying to find something on the wine lists at restaurants nearby. I got a list from Odd Bins of what they can get from London and found nary a Bdx that I want.

The worst thing is that at my College I have all Fellow rights save the one I really want--the right to purchase wines from the College stock. I am working on the Master to make an exception to their rule about this, but it is hard to break a tradition at a 500 year old institution...

Fortunately, the College does have a few special occasions at which they serve fine wine from their cellars. Unfortunately, I have to wait a couple of weeks for the first one this term.

Sigh, I remember my time at Christ's College like it was yesterday. Been meaning to get back to Cambridge for thirty-plus years, never have....

As for SF '11 theme... I thought we were going with: "Wines that JimHow Likes" ???

And the 1985 GPL I brought to one dinner night in Napa 02. He preferred that wine to the wine he brought that night, 1986 Léoville Barton, but would never admit it as being a BD, would always pretend his wine was better...

I see there is a serious problem in the "whatever Jim likes" theme, especially with the information provided by Nicklasss, If, however, we veto him on the theme will he do something vengeful like bring a burg? Stay tune the suspense is killing me.

Ah yes I would say Medocs, and Medoc-like right bankers like Figeac and, er, VCC.....

In the end of course, in my benevolence, my "favorite wines" are those that BWEers like... I am happy if BWEers are happy!!

I am also on a spouse supportive HCG diet
This HCG diet may kill me..........about 4 weeks serious then another 3 wks more moderate However no wine for all 7 weeks
so while not as good of shape as Jim I should be rather healthy and thinner at the end
