I've had this wine a couple times previously and I have not been incredibly impressed.
The nose is nice and Margaux, but at least initially it seems a bit thin on the palate.
It is in the duck decanter, though, we'll see if it improves.

I hope you enjoy the wine and the celebration, Jim. What a fun ride the B's gave us this season--it was pretty magical!

I haven't had the 00 Malescot in a few years, but I do have notes on it from 3 different bottles circa 2007-2008. At that time, I found it to be dark, serious and classically made--with a real solid upside. Depending on where you net out after some duck decanter time, my money is still on this being a pretty formidably good wine down the road...

Yes, I'm afraid it needs more time. I'll drink the next one on 10 years.

The Widow, Red Bull and Bud Light. Might as well mix them all up, what we would have called jungle juice in high school.

The crazy thing, Glenn, is that they did mix it up and drank the concoction from the Cup.
Boy, they had quite a parade today in Boston, looked like it was even bigger than those for the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.

Jim: I like the 2000 Malescot; ripe tannins and physiologically ripe fruit without being heavy; good punch and fine fruit character without being sweet (although the wood is almost sweet). I'm thinking this could be like the '75 Lascombes, and you'll see more Margaux appelation character in about 10 years or so. Least I hope so. Best, John

Sounds good to me, John, I'm going to hold my remaining bottles for at least another decade. We'll have to drink some fine northern Medocs before the year is out, it has been too long!
