Re: The Curse of JimHow
"Monumental collapse" are the two words that come to mind for me.
Re: The Curse of JimHow
Um, could someone please fill me in?

Um, yeah, that one took the cake....
I'm a Boston Red Sox season ticket holder (along with 9 other lawyers), Alex, and our team lost last night in the single-biggest collapse in baseball history.

Re: The Curse of JimHow
You'd think 10 lawyers could have got an injunction or something.
Re: The Curse of JimHow
and the 1964 Phillies thank you very much!
Re: The Curse of JimHow
Even Yankees fans can only watch, winch and say "ouch".
Re: The Curse of JimHow
I think Yankees fans are happy all the Sox lefthanded bats aren't coming to the Stadium these playoffs, no matter how poorly the Sox ended. As last night proved, anything can happen.
Re: The Curse of JimHow
As a diehard Yankees fan I can confirm the relief, as the BoSox really seems to have our number these days... but it was so ugly for the Sox down the stretch, I couldn't derive (much) pleasure from the spectacle.
Re: The Curse of JimHow
Jim, you should sue the Sox to get your ticket money back plus damages.

Indeed, severe emotional distress. I've seen some crazy seasons in my 45 years as a Sox fan, but this one took the cake.
Re: The Curse of JimHow
I don't think BoSox have our numbers these days. The tide changed since their last couple of series. August 30, the first win ever by CC over them, was the start of their long, painful, and agonizingly slow tailspin.Blanquito wrote:As a diehard Yankees fan I can confirm the relief, as the BoSox really seems to have our number these days... but it was so ugly for the Sox down the stretch, I couldn't derive (much) pleasure from the spectacle.
Re: The Curse of JimHow
I feel for you Jim, and would like to apologize for our lowly Orioles delivering the coup de grace. Speaking of which, the BoSox haven't had NY's or anybody's number this past month. But there's always next year. Jim, maybe you should take that bottle of 1918 Haut Brion over to Fenway on a full moon and say a few incantations over it.

I don't know how the O's ended up in last place, David, ghat team played the Sox, Yanks, and Rqys really tough. I'm rooting for the Rays, I love how that team is run.
Boston media reporting that Terry Francona has been fired. Ugly, ugly situation....

It's official, they just released statements.
What an amazing fall. A month ago they had the best record in baseball.
Stunning.

Firing Francona is a mistake.

Re: The Curse of JimHow
Yeah, I agree. John Henry is absolutely ruthless.
I mean, the guy won two World Series in 8 years.
A month ago they had the best record in the league.
I guess that lockerroom has been a real disaster.

The collapse is already famous, inscribed in history:

Then again, when you're a Jays fan you have to have a long memory!
