BWE 12 DC: Finances

Post by DavidG »

I'm ready to sign the contract with CP and send them a deposit, so it's time to ask for checks to reserve your place at the dinner.

Total cost will be $170/person. A bit more than my original estimate of $150 but this will cover some extra Champagne for the reception (we have run short in past), glassware rental and a generous gratuity. Tom in DC has generously offered to serve as Treasurer, so I will ask him to post directions on where to send your checks. As soon as I've got 10 checks I'll send in the deposit and lock in the space at Charlie Palmer.

Based on this, I've signed the contract with Charlie Palmer and sent them a deposit - so we have the Alcove room locked in for Saturday. And I've arranged for rental of 150 12-oz stems.

Sorry, I have been on vacation. My check is in the mail, I have to check on a possible +1...my fiancee is pregnant which is terrific but it means some excellent wine events may not be a worthwhile purchase for her...

I should wait for one of the sharp-witted wags, but that sounds like a good stint of designated driving! Been there, done that, although both of our kids are in their mid-twenties... :-)

Payments received from JCNorthway (2), Bastien (1), and the Benevolent Dictator (2) - total of 29 paid.

And does anyone have an idea who "Meaghan M. S." is? I received an email from her, asking if I had received her payment...

Yeah, even I could guess that! But the hillbilly in me wants someone to please claim this guest before I take a check from some alcohol revenue agent that just wants to put us all in the hoosegow...

Guilty.

My friends Meaghan+Nigel are wine lovers and live in DC. I have known her since 1992 and are good friends (still!). They had tried to come last time we had the BWE Annual in DC but it sold out before they could get organized. This time they are trying again. Very nice people. That would put me at 5. Do we have room?

Yes we have room. I will update the list on the Sat night dinner thread.

Wouldn't be a bad idea if everyone re-posted the names of who they are bringing.

Hi Tom.

Can you confirm you received my payment? I'm getting worried as I send it by mail on the January 7th, so you should have it...

Yes, Nic, I have received your payment. I apologize for not letting you know - I've been sending PM's or email as I receive payments and I forgot to send anything to you.

Cheers,

Jean-Nicolas Maltais will be in the building. Incredible.
I never cease to be amazed how we've been able to do these conventions every year since Chicago '01.
