TN: 1978 Clerc Milon, 1985 La Lagune

Post by stefan »

With the Butcher Block at the Wood Tavern we drank

1978 Clerc Milon. This wine is definitely past its prime, but it still has some fruit and the muted secondary and tertiary characteristics made it worth drinking. stefan 85. Judd 89. Lucie 90. T 89.

With the main courses of roasted chicken and flat iron steak we drank

1985 La Lagune. Now this is more like it! Violets, anise, lavender, light leather. This LL is not powerful but it is perfectly balanced, just like it was 10-15 years ago. I like this more than the '86 La Lagune and most bottles of the '83. s 92+. J 92. L 92 T 92.

We finished off my father's case of the 85LL a few years ago. Good to know it's still drinking well.

Thanks for reporting Stephan!
Nice memories as I owned a couple of bottles of 1985 La Lagune but was much too impatient and opened them both a long time ago..

Lucie and I went through two cases of this loverly 1989-1998. I was glad I found a few bottles at auction this past year.
