From a bottle purchased on release this wine is drinking very nicely now. It is another 1995 Right Bank that highlights the success of the vintage in St. Emilion.
The nose is a delightful mélange of cool macerated plum with graphite, maple syrup and subtle spice. The kind of nose that a Pinot lover would enjoy. The nostril penetration is deep. Just perfect ripeness to accent the fruit without excess.
In the mouth there is medium bodied red fruit, earth, Asian spices, and toast on the long finish perfectly propelled by integrated acidity. This is real St. Emilion and I am glad to have another bottle to drink in the next 1-2 years.

I like this estate too Glenn...and thanks for your notes...we did a Right Bank blind tasting this week...warts and all, good bad and ugly...my favourite wine was Belair 1995...they were mostly enjoyable in their own quirky ways. But I have never been disappointed by Grand Mayne.
Re: TN: 1995 Grand Mayne
95 Right Bank hasn't any warts, I thought.
I was tempted by the 09 Grand Mayne but probably will pass.

If you can ever buy the 98 Grand Mayne, buy it. Buy like the wind.
