The 2005 Lagrange has been uncorked, and other ramblings....
The final victim of the 12 bottle purchase. I bought three cases of wine from Pappa Doc a few years ago at Zachy's. Two of the wines were in the owc, and sit comfortably, unopened and untouched, in my cellar. The '05 Lagrange was in a box, though, and now all 12 bottles have been consumed. This one has smoothed out considerably from the early bottles I had from this "case."
Long week in court (here with my latest client charged with arson, we're having a major crime spree in Lewiston), looking forward to a nice summer, although it is supposed to rain all weekend. Timmy McCracken is coming to The Great State of Maine in July!

The first 9 bottles of this wine were pretty gross. They were high alcohol, unbalanced, they were a left bank La Tour Carnet. Thhas really "integrated" (I've decided I'm going to put quotes arounD all RMP-speak terms from now on) very nicely the last few bottles.

Did anyone catch that exchange this past week between Wolf Blitzer and Donald Trump over the birther issue?
It was fascinating to watch the psychosis of Trump at play as he simply denied the unimpeachable facts presented to him by Blitzer.
It reminded me of that reporter/gangster scene from Monty Python, I don't recall all the details, but the dialogue gets reduced to the reporter stating something like: "But we have you on video ripping his head off" and the guy keeps denying it. Same thing. Absolutely hilarious. Actually, I would laugh if I didn't want to cry....

Mmmm holding up very nicely with the whoopie pie. Very nicely balanced, very nice Bordeaux.

I'll give this a solid 92+ points. This is very nice Bordeaux. Modern but only in the sense that it is made better than the older stuff. Still true to St, Julien.

A large amount of sediment in the end of this case of 2005 Lagrange.

I went to a Lagrange tasting in Charleston a year ago-we tasted about 8 wines. The '05 was my highest score at 93. My brief notes say dark plum
color, rich flavors and texture showing a tad of finesse. It is 46%CS, 45Mer, 9PV. Buy.

The 1996 and 2000 Lagrange, the "best ever" after the 1990 (RMP speak quoted) are drinkable, but their best days are ahead of 'em.
Glad to hear the 2005 has rounded into shape, I've got 3 or 4 bottles chillin' below grade.

Jim
I am wondering why you consumed the other 05 Lagranges so young??
I have 6 of these I am not looking to touch them for a year.
Actually the 06 is starting to drink well now despite its youth.

It is because of a mental disorder, Claudius.
Re: The 2005 Lagrange has been uncorked, and other ramblings....
Ahhhh, a disorder I share I'm afraid!
Re: The 2005 Lagrange has been uncorked, and other ramblings....
You finished a case of '05 Lagrange already? I have yet to open my cases of 1996, 2000, and 2002.
However, yesterday I did crack open my case of '05 D'Armailhac to take to a beef dinner. The nose has developed nicely and the Pauillac character is there, but I do not intend to try another bottle in the next two years. Better for drinking now were '04 Monbousquet and '03 Rol Valentin. These are extracted in the modern St. Emilion style but not at all new world. The Rol Valentin will certainly improve and shed some tannin.

Yes, the whole case.... None left. I do have a full wood case of 2006 Lagrange in my cellar, though, completely untouched.
One of my brothers got some good pictures of Bobby De Niro, Gwen Iffel, and scientist Bonnie Bassler at the Bates College graduation here in Lewiston last weekend.

It's OK I have been drinking 2009 Clinet so I think I am suffering the same disorder!!JimHow wrote:It is because of a mental disorder, Claudius.
Sometimes I drink wines in the wrong order as some are in Australia, others in Singapore.
cheers
