Sipping on a hot 2005 Beychevelle

Post by JimHow »

Saw Roger Waters at Fenway the other night. Great anti-war rally! I wonder if we'll still have war 50 years from now. Probably, I guess, but maybe not? A beautiful night at the old ballyard, baby doll, we're in mid-summer!

This 2005 Becychevelle is very 2005-like... hot, alcoholic, tannic. Let's see how it unfolds.

It was alright, Jay. I've never been a Pink Floyd fanatic but I enjoyed the sensory overload and the anti-war, anti-religiosity and the accoustics at Fenway are great for a concert, saw Mick and the boys there a few years back on a similar hot summer night. Waters had some great musicians up there with him as well. The Beychevelle is smoothing out, this is legit stuff.

Like PF, not so much The Wall.

It's too soon for '05 Beychevelle, too late for '43 Waters.

I'll bet you I'm drinking Beychevelle within the RMP drinking window, and I'll bet you RMP has been to a Roger Waters concert....

Bob sez 2017-2030 so you're a little early, Jim.

That's his opinion. Then again, he thinks Hardy rodenstock is great.
This wine is delish, but it could use a few years, duh, of course.

Glad that Beychevelle has mellowed out. Sounds like it's made you slipperier than a June bride in a feather bed...

Saw the Wall in Ottawa a week ago last Monday. I enjoyed PF growing up and Dark Side of the Moon concert was memorable as a teenager. Maybe it was the party scene/dope filled air rather than the music but I sure remember partying with PF playing in the background along with Queen and others.

The concert after the fireworks at the beginning was downhill from there. Started with a bang and fizzled out from there. After the intermission I thought the concert really dragged and I should have left at the intermission and I would have been more rested for work the next morning. The anti war, anti capitalism, anti just about everything got to be a bit much. To top it off RW should have hung up his guitar a few years ago. 68 and still ticking....sounds like a bad Timex commercial!

Have to say, the idea of Beychevelle and 2005 does not sound like a match made in heaven. I am bullish however on 2009. We shall see....

I think there was a song I liked on Ummagumma or whatever the LP was called. Did it have a fade-out with football fans singing? Other than that not a PF fan. Maybe it was the production, or maybe it was the playing, or maybe it was the songs, like that, you know.

My bad. It's Meddle>Fearless. Just listening to it now it has that "twilight" sedation thing going on that makes a lot of their music kind of tiring - if you're not sedated already.

I'm surprised they never composed a tune and called it "Colonoscopy." Something apropos of a light sedation and then a twisting, turning tour through wormy innards.

I think it's the whining dog that appeals to you. You see, Meddle is a great album, and it even has something for everyone

Actually I like the timbre of the acoustic guitars - the rhythm anyway. Has a sort of thready sound.
