TN: A Bordeaux and a Burg from 2009

Chateau Moulin de la Grangere 2009 St. Emilion GC
Deep dark opaque purple color, attractive with some highlight variations, etc. Tar, cherry, earth on the nose. Cherry, earth, some menthol or mint on the palate. Long finish. Ripe tannins with good balancing acidity. Full bodied. Very nice cherry fruit. In the masculine, earthy St. Emilion style that I love. Another winner from 2009. Good evolution on the bottle, which was open and sampled throughout the day. Nice medium term aging, perhaps longer.

Domaine Prunier-Bonheur Saint-Romain 'Sous le Chateau' 2009
A single vineyard villages wine. Fairly dark ruby pinot color, just barely translucent. Chocolate, cherries on the nose. Just amazing upon opening. Beautiful fruit on the palate. Acidity came more to fore a bit later. Somehow cool, yet warm - a beautiful paradox. Ripe, good structure, long finish. Chunky, full bodied texture very surprising for this appelation especially on a red. Good balance, great pinot flavor, a hint of minerality and earth.
