Jim, I did a bad thing

Post by stefan »

Yes, against all commands, I actually bought 2010 Bordeaux today. PC had such an attractive sale that I could not pass it up.

There were mitigating circumstances that I ask you to take into account before sentencing me. By the time 2010s are mature I will be in That Great Tasting Room in the Sky. My children are the beneficiaries.

Exemption granted, those are damned good prices and it is for a noble cause!
I am indeed a kind and benevolent dictator.

Stefan,
What do you think of 2009? I am excited about it... I imagine it's possible you haven't tried any yet. But then again, who could resist if the opportunity arose?

The only 2010 I bought was Château Fayat, a new estate in Pomerol pieced together from La Commanderie de Mazeyres et de Vieux Bourgneuf. I very much enjoyed it en primeur and it is a very good price compared to other Pomerols.
I suggest you look out for it.

Fayat is one of the richest men in France (construction) and he has begun to take winemaking very seriously, investing a fortune in La Dominique.

Don't intend to buy any other 2010s though.

Best regards,
Alex R.

In 15-20 years from now, I want someone to put two bottles blind in front of Jimhow. He will taste both wine, few times, think about it, Retaste, rethink, and finally say : bottle A is the best wine, a classical Bordeaux from the Left Bank, giving me emotion, is fresh with structure, an exact ripeness of the grape, but stay true to that Pauillac terroir from the Northern Médoc, with a very long final of balckcurrants, cedar and noble oak.

When the bottles will be reveiled, Jim how won't beleive it :

Bottle B is the 1989 Chateau Lynch Bages.
Bottle A... the 2010 Chateau Lynch Bages...

And he will have no 2010 in his cellar and the 2010 Chateau Lynch Bages will worth 1500 $ a bottle then...

Chasse, I have drunk a few petite chateau '09s and they have been very good and surprisingly approachable. I have not even tasted a Grand Cru Classe from '09.
