TN: 2008 Le Vieux Donjon CNDP

Post by Jay Winton »

bought a bottle at Calvert Woodley last week and tonight's marinated and grilled flanksteak seemed to be a good match so into the decanter and I'll open the N.V. Vranken Champagne Demoiselle Rosé Grand Cuvée Brut for mrs vino. We found the champagne to be dry and somewhat restrained. mrs vino detected a hint of nectarines and I tasted granny smith apple but overall quite reserved for a rose. Cellaring might be beneficial.

The Donjon from what I've read is considered an "off" vintage delivers lots of tannic flavor with an hint of fine herbs. This is a delicious cndp no matter the vintage. Not ageless but by c. 2018 it should be in an excellent place I estimate. A buy.

So the pricing is favorable? In percentage terms, how big a discount to, say, the 2007 "all time best anywhere ever" vintage?

Le Vieux Donjon is probably my favorite CdP. I just bought some of the 2010.
