How high is too high? Certainly six OWCs is not too heavy for the bottom case?

Also, assuming bottles are secured at the row ends, do you see any problems stacking my free-ranging bottles atop each other in several rows?

6 is about max for my cellar.

Not quite. I'm in my cellar in Salida. I'm going to wall off most of my stash instead of offload it to friends.

We're going to Oahu on the 24th to see what our housing prospects are. Then we return and depart for good around October 15th. We like running things close like this.

I have OWC stacked 7 high and would stack higher if I needed to. I don't stack loose bottles more than six high.

I'm only planning to bring over a couple of cases of bottles of interest for dropins. This is a daunting task. Not to mention leaving behind my little ones who may be all grown up by the time I return.

As for my "everyday" consumption I plan on getting by with young "cheap" Bdx sourced locally or flown over from the mainland.

I max out at 6 not so much for the weight, but when you have to lift a case that high up it runs more of a risk of injury. Voice of experience.

Costco on the Big Island has a pretty good selection...

...not sure about Oahu or the other islands.

I can't believe you are moving to Hawaii. That puts you in the class of a 'master,' as in Jimmy Page or Dostoevsky. I hope you can live up to it.

Oahu has many very good wine shops. Maui is next and tied for last is Hawaii and Kauai. Strangely I love Hawaii and Kauai the most.

I've seen some pretty tall stacks of cases and enormous bins of bottles at wineries.

I see you use the double-guyot stacking method. I might be able to increase the yield of my understairs storage with it.
