The article is breezy and simplistic, but the issue is interesting.
Furthermore, Langoa Barton may not have its own Château, but Léovile Barton is pretty majestic!

I think he could have chosen a better example.
This subject has raised hackles in France, sort of like the non-issue a couple of years ago as to whether a rosé could be a blend of white and red wines
(yawn...).
Whenever you so much as touch the idea of "patrimoine", the French can get kind of belligerent.
However, it often takes them many, many years to react, which was certainly the case with names les Chablis, Burgundy, and Champagne in New World countries.

Use of the name "château" outside France
Re: Use of the name "château" outside France
Thanks fro the new French word : "patrimoine".
They try to use that when they want to fly the Stars and Bars down here in the South.
It goes ,"It's hertiage ... Not hate."
Nice try..........

I can see their point with Champagne, Chablis and Burgundy. But Chateau? Nope, not buying that one.
Re: Use of the name "château" outside France
