TN: a lovely Cabernet Franc.

2010 Chinon "Beaumont"; Catherine & Pierre Breton
funk, earth, herbs, very fresh, quite ripe plummy fruit, it has filled out well since last tasted. Hints of burnt wood and peat, herbs, bonfire, raw tobacco leaf,  mint, cassis, very Cabernet Franc, very Chinon but with good fruit and balance. Good herby, dark cherry and plum length. Graphite, squid ink, angostura bitters. Lovely and with plenty of ability to age! 67-69++/100

Jono Beagle's hundred point scoring system.
0-29/100 not worth bothering with
30-49/100 good wine but I wouldn't buy a case
50-59/100 very good showing grape and terroir character
60-69/100 excellent example of a wine from this country/region/grape
70-85/100 one of the very best wines that the region has to offer.
86-100/100 one of the very best wines you are ever likely to drink

I've often found Loire Cab Francs to be a bit weedy for my taste unless they are really ripe. Your description sounds like this is one I would like. Was 2010 generally a ripe year for Chinon or was this wine unusual?

I'd say it is more the style of the producer; Cab Franc but with fruit!!

I'd say this is middle ground between the weedy traditional and the over-Oakes over extracted modern.
