Whoah doggie!
Modern. Extracted. Parkerized. Californian. Internationalized. Unbalanced. The opposite of restraint, elegance, restraint.
And yet... Bordeaux.

Only three sips in, but so far I love every obnoxious bit of it!

This is like Cap de Faugeres times ten! Loving this wine, doubt it will hold up past the 15 years that He about right predicts it will last. For those of you who don't drink infant Bordeaux, you don't know what you're missing!

It's got this toasty oak thing going on, not off-putting at all.

The back of this heavy, Haut Brion like bottle says: 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. i have no idea how that compares with anything produced previously by Monbousquet or by other estates in 2009.

I'll give it 91 points, but drink it now and over the next decade.

Jim
I've posted a few notes lately on 2009s, and they are delicious young.
However, the last 2 attempts incl a wonderful Clinet suggest that they are starting to close up. Obviously that won;t apply to all, but there is plenty of tannin in these wines and they will lose their baby fat sooner or later and those tannins wil come to the party.
So I'm going to leave most and try a few more lesser right bankers.

Well I have some 1998 Monbousquet lost in the cellar.
If anyone ever visits we'll drink it an see what's up.
In fact to make it interesting we'll also drink Nic's 1989 Cantemerle and post pictures.
