TN: 2005 Bahans Haut-Brion

This is a very good wine, but not showing its best yet. This was enjoyed with steak at a restaurant (Aureole) that had an interesting plexiglass wine storage tower, with cables on each side, and a winch (I suppose that is spelled with an "i", not an "e") that lifts a leather clad server to retrieve the wine.

I digress; the wine was dark ruby, no signs of age, a nice balance of acidity and soft structure, with a mix of purple and black fruits that had both a muted nose and palate.....I'm guessing this will show better in a few years, and at the end of the dinner it seemed to be emerging. The palate had a nice blend of minerals and smoke, as many Graves do.

And you were also drinking history since this wine now has the rather odd name of "Le Clarence de Haut Brion".

As for quality, it is definitely worthwhile.

I have a couple of bottles in the cellar.
