Unfortunately, we will not be able to make it this year. We tried to work things out but just could not do it. I really am sad to miss being with everyone once again but will be toasting the convention that weekend!

Is anyone else who has indicated they are coming backing out?
We have people, myself included, making expensive commitments based on representations that people are attending.
I gave away $500 of Met Opera tickets to be in Dallas that weekend based on representations that that was the only weekend that worked.
I have an extremely busy schedule and a frail father to attend to, I'm now concerned we're not going to have a critical mass for this. This is why we were looking for public commitments from people.

We haven't responded to the posts because we have been trying to find a "babysitter" for Rob's Dad. He has dementia and can't be left alone for more than a few hours at a time The couple who usually babysits for us are getting married in April and unable to do it this year so we are going to have to bow out. We will miss everyone!

Right after I posted we came up with an idea. Rob will come alone for a couple of nights. That way I can babys and at least half of the Daytons will be there. I will be he martyr and let Rob have some fun (just not too much fun.... )
Chris - can you let Rob know where you are staying - I'll book him there since I seem to remember Margie can't make it.

Seriously, no one should feel pressured to attend.
We'll love to see you there and will miss you Sue but if you feel you need to change any plans we totally understand.

And she just got a trip to visit in PA.

It's very difficult caring for elderly parents.
I just got a call from my friend Steve who you and other BWEers have met, he 's back home in Massachusetts, his father is not expected to last through the night. And they just moved his mother into a nursing home today.

It is hard and sometimes an inconvenience to provide care.
BUT to me it is the right thing.
