TNs: two simply Georgian wines

Post by JonoB »

2008 Saperavi; Kakheti; Teliani Valley
rich, plummy and herby, somewhat simple but very well made and quite appealing. Earth, raw tobacco, mint and herbs. Very pleasant, rich and warming. 61/100

2006 Mukazani Saperavi; Kakheti, Teliani Valley
more lactic, more new oak, quite rich again, but with more depth and length. Herbs, structure and red plum... More interesting but still simple, rich and appealing. Ripe red fruit and raw herbs. 64/100

Jonatha,

I'll never remember those names, and couldn't buy those wines if I wanted to, but it is way cool to post about wines outside our usual scope.

I often serve "weird-ass" wines at dinners where there is an entire series.
I'm planning to serve a Turkish Viognier on Saturday....

Thanks,
Alex R.

I've had some really lovely Turkish wines; there is some good stuff coming out of Anatolia.

I'm sure the wine will show decently! ;)
