Do you ever get the feeling that Someone up there hates you? In the last five days I have opened 2 corked wines and 2 bretty wines, all French. The only decent bottle we drank was on the fifth day, an 01 Ridge Geyserville. Tonight it was a '95 Cos Labory. I had stashed half a case and cracked it last week. The good news is that I got no TCA upon opening the bottle. The bad news is that the wine was so full of brett that Lucie objected to it (though not so much that she would not drink it). I have a high tolerance for brett and could appreciate its good qualities, but still...

Tomorrow we will drink a sound wine even if I have to open a dozen to get one. Take that, you &()%(%&^(&(% up there wherever you are!

But, if 12 bottles in a row are bad, I am heading off to the synagogue and will hit mass on Saturday and the Baptist services on Sunday AM. Got to cover all bases.

I think on the fifth day God was all like frowny face and probably that's where brett came from. Just remember to take it easy on the seventh day, whichever day that is. Have a nice day!

The Big Guy in the Guy has his work cut out for him tonight. The first wine we will try is '89 La Lagune. If He corks that one he is one Bad Ass.

Ummm! The 1989 La Lagune is perfect! Classic bouquet. Lots of licorice that sticks to your tongue. Lucie is grilling quail to go with it. I can stay home tonight.

Wonderful wine. Very well balanced. No "wow" factor, which is not a minus in my book. The quail and turnip mashed potatoes went well with it, which was no surprise. 92/93 according to Lucie and me.
