B-Day Dinner Wines

Post by RDD »

Susan and I have our B-days in the same week and tonight we have our B-day dinner with a younger couple.
Plan on some Haute Cuisine and I'm trying to put a nice line up together and was thinking:

1990 Sir Winston Churchill : Hard to celebate w/o Champagne
1988 Climens : Can be served with foie gras starter as well as with dessert.
1998 Chateau Pavie : Love it or hate it.
1998 Angelus : Yea baby!

We are planning on taxi ride.

And Susan bought me some great art work.
Some signed lithogaphs of Eddy Merckx, the greatest cyclist of all time.

Happy 39th, Susan & Rob.

1990 Winston is one of the truly great Champagnes. I love 1988 Climens; got to get some more. I did not realize that '98 Angelus had hit its "plateau of maturity", but it always showed great potential.

The 1988 Climens blew me away in DC this past year. I tought the 1986 was great but the 1988 left it in the dust.

I'm really interested in try the Pavie.

I will be interested in hearing about these wines. The Climens is a great wine. I have both the Angelus and Pavie, so am curious what you find, since I've not opened any of mine yet.

Where'd I get that? Not yet awake I guess after a late night. These conventions are hell, I tell you.

Well happy Bday then!

'82 Calon Segur - sweet choice for the anniversary!

The Sir Winston Churchill and the Climens were both lovely. Between the Pavie and the Angelus my favorite was the Pavie. Rob and our friends chose the Angelus. The wines were a perfect match to a great night with friends! (And the restaurant waived the corkage - so even better!) :D
