Malden, MA 02148
BTW while everyone recalls *the blizzard* there was a second substantial (+1') storm that I recall within a week or two of it. It was a snowy month.

Yeah. I recall either a Patty Luongo or maybe her brother being in my class or the next after. Didn't know them but to say hi is all. Of course the high schools there are pretty big. We had over 2100 kids in our three grades combined.

Just outside Boston for me, we couldn't get off campus for a week. Man, I'll never forget that first night!

Re: Blizzard of '78
Boston's top six snowfalls. #6 preceded *the Blizzard* by just a couple weeks, but it kind of gets lost in the bigger picture.
Feb. 17-18, 2003 27.6 inches
Feb. 6-7, 1978 27.1 inches
Feb. 24-27, 1969 26.3 inches
March 31- April 1, 1997 25.4 inches
Jan. 22-23, 2005 22.5 inches
Jan. 20-21, 1978 21.4 inches
I have a pretty good full-sensory memory of crossing an unplowed street in then waist-high snow from the 69 storm too.

I too was on Merrimack's campus. Our saving grace was a local commuter who had a snowmobile and was making beer runs to Denrock Liquors off of Rt114 near RT495. With the profit he made I think he was able to pay off his school balance. I can still remember seeing the cases strapped on the backside. It was expensive but worth every penny!

Feb. 17-18, 2003 27.6 inches I got "stuck" in So. Cal during this storm. I remember my wife calling me while I was in the swimming pool to ask me what she could burn in the fireplace after days of no heat.
Feb. 6-7, 1978 27.1 inches Jr. High in Northampton, MA. Back when snow was "fun".
Feb. 24-27, 1969 26.3 inches Just out of diapers...
March 31- April 1, 1997 25.4 inches Lexington, MA. A sad memory, as our next door neighbor died of a heart attack trying to snowblow out from that one...
Jan. 22-23, 2005 22.5 inches Sudbury, MA. 6 month old babies in the house wasn't so great.

See, you don't even remember the pre-blizzard storm. It's the least-respected biggest storm in MA history.

Here's a nice refresher from the NWS site. Glad to see it leads with the Jan 19-21 storm.

That was some crazy shit back in 78.
Great memory Gerry, I remember that too.
I'm definitely coming to the conclusion that "Locker Room", the sports talk radio program run by my roommate and I, relieved your late afternoon rock music program. You must have handed me the headphones in the studio.
