Domaine du Jaugaret?

Post by OrlandoRobert »

With our fearless leader waxing philosphically about wines of place and the bane of homogeneity, what are the group's thoughts on this Domaine? I have not had the chance to try it, and it is not inexpensive, but it reads like a wine I would love.

It's not available here, so I've never had the pleasure. On CellarTracker there's this amazing, day by day analysis of its changes over a two week period from being near horrid to being very Lagrange-like!:

That's a really funny series of notes! I am assuming he is poking fun at those who say a wine is better on day 2 or 3 and taking it to an extreme.

I discovered a tiny new St. Julien estate named Château Julia. Approriately, the wine is made by a woman.

I had never heard of Jaugaret before, so I'm grateful to you guys for bringing it to my attention.
A quick Internet search shows that it is a controversial wine, and was denied the right to the St. Julien appellation because of excess volatile acidity. Not a very good advertisement...
Still, I'd love to visit and/or taste the wine.
