2008 Clerc Milon

Post by jmccready »

Haven't tasted many 08s so interested in the weight/style of the vintage, albeit through one wine. Dark pruple, red and black currants
in nose, a bit perfumey and plummy , but singular and no real earthy or interesting notes. The palate followed- simple fruity flavors with
almost no complexity developing after 5 years. My two fellow tasters summed it up as simple. But it certainly isn't a big jammy, anti-JH
style and my hope is with age it will evolve into the 98 per BobbyG. It should, terroir being the great claret trump card. Well made, a more
"normal"Bordeaux style per the current discussion on this site. Maybe more towards classic (o4,06) rather than 05,09. This vintage stumped
Parker early on and I think he downgraded it later. Which should mean it is more classic than ripe in nature. Again, I have only had a few 08s.
Is our dictator collecting 08s? Cheers to Dallas, wish I could be there. JM
