TN: 2000 Lascombes

Post by JCNorthway »

Was looking forward to testing out what was happening with the mid-tier 2000 Bordeaux wines, so decided to pull my first of six Chateaux Lascombes to pair with a grilled ribeye (it approached 60 degrees in Chicago today, so grilling was an option). Great expectations were met with sad results. Upon tasting, I initially caught a whiff - confirmed by tasting - that the wine was corked. That said, I have high hopes for this wine, because there is definitely some nice fruit to be enjoyed with a proper bottle.

Not good for this outing, but perhaps something to look forward to in future bottles.

What the heck is going on over there in Chicago, Jon, is it becoming another Detroit?

I had the 2000 Lascombes recently, and thought it was excellent - probably somewhere between a 91 and 93.
I have lots more, and am glad to have it!
