2001 Ch. La Gurgue, Margaux

Post by AlexR »

We had this on Easter Sunday with shoulder of lamb and roast vegetables.

The wine was bricking and looked older than its age.
The nose showed plum and tobacco, but was not very assertive.
The wine was a little on the thin side on the palate, but with good structure and a dry mineral aftertaste.

No point in holding onto this any longer.

The château building on the label is not longer La Gurgue... The Merlaut family decided to rebaptize it Ch. La Ferrière (3rd growth), another estate they own.

Best regards,
Alex R.

I had this wine almost one year ago and really liked it. I thought it was ready but not necessarily finished.
