Please, later, or tomorrow, tell me more about the white and red Chapoutier!

My WOTN was the 00 Pegau. Soft, rich, friendly. A bit simplistic, but very tasty.
A close second was the 99 blanc Beaucast.

Rhone night a little noisy to start but once the group beside us cleared out the eve became more enjoyable. Many great wines. Some I loved and some not so much.

The 2000 Pegau was lovely and outshone the 2001 Pegau Laurance. 83 Beaucastel was right on mark with the 89 right on its heels showing more youth than I would have anticipated.

1999 Pingus is very young but beauty in a bottle. Lush, dark fruits, perfectly balanced soft tannins and great length. Not your typical temperanillo but I'd love to see this with at least another 10-15 years.

1995 Ermitage Blanc again is a wine I just can't get used to. I think you either love them or hate them and I'm in the latter group for Rhone whites. Never had one that I could say WOW or even want to finish a glass. Sorry David but I tried....again!

78 Beaucastel I thought was off ?? corked ?? a little over the hill.

A great evening apart from a brief eruption of tempers and differences of opinion at our end of the table that went unnoticed by most.

Danny my impressions mirrored yours on the reds. I wasn't a big fan of the Ermitage Blanc either but I loved both of the white Beaucastel VV Roussannes. What did you think of those?
